JAZZ IMPROVISATION AND AI

Dimitri Vassilakis, saxophonist, composer, adjunct staff and researcher at the master course of the Athens Kapodistrian University presents "Jazz & AI interaction” performance examples using DYC12 and Omax systems developed at IRCAM.

For these examples the system on 2 laptops reshuffles fragments and interacts with poetry, choir, percussion, keyboard pads, opera, speech and the interaction is triggered by the length, attack, gesture movements and articulation of the soprano saxophone and guitar improvisation.

Audio to midi sax and midi guitar also trigger gospel choir, vocoder, drums, synth sounds and effects.

On the guitar and laptops Tilemachos Mousas and on the laptops George Apostolopoulos, students at the master course of the Athens Kapodistrian University, control different “scenarios” of the AI interaction, video by Yiannis Peikidis at the UOA Labmat Studios.
